Between the 2018 regional meetings and April 2019, the County received hundreds of public comments on the draft policy and community planning documents. This public input led to additional research, discussions with key stakeholders, and direct revisions to the planning documents.
While many substantive changes were made, the County was not able to accommodate everyone’s requests — generally due to a conflict with state law, local policy, other community input, infrastructure capacity, and/or County direction. Thank you to everyone who gave their thoughts and opinions, submitted written comments and requests, and/or provided new sources of information.
The latest version of the Policy Plan, including the policy maps and reference maps, and the Community Action Guides are the final draft plans that will be presented to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. Although the County will continue to accept and respond to public comments regarding these documents, the most recent draft Policy Plan forms the basis for the analysis contained in the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR); we are therefore restricted from making any significant changes to those planning documents. If County staff believe that, based on public comments, additional changes to the Policy Plan are warranted, then those changes will be brought forward in the staff report to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors, along with an analysis of their impact on the DEIR.
